PB500 Question

Hello,

Just found your site today... PB500 sounds cool!

I just ordered a 2008 Buell Ulysses and should have it in a few weeks.

My question is, for those that have ridden the PB500 before, would the stock tires on the Ulysses be adequate for the trail conditions? Or would I need something more nobby?

Stock tire: Pirelli Scorpion Sync

Thanks!

Your stock tires are less than adequate.  I definitely would recomend a nobbie tire.

Also, the PB500 would be quite a challenge on your new Buell.  It could be done but that depends on your off-road ability/experience.  And expect to get some scratches on the new bike over the 3-day ride!  The ride is "do-able" on a GS but a 650 dual-sport would be more at home on these routes.

I'm also interested in trying the PB500...but I'm at the other end of the spectrum...would my KLR250 be adequte enough to do the PB500?

Hey: the KLR250 would be OK for the ride. But put real DOT knobbies on. The Buell is a different story, just look at the ride reports from the other events to see the type of machine this ride is made for.

Jack, thanks for the feedback.  I just changed the KLR over to street tires since I commute a lot...just have to switch back before the PB500.

Hi, I also have a tire question...I have a Suzuki DRZ400s with Kenda 50-50 Trail/Street tires (not stock tires). In your opinion, would these tires be OK or do you still recommend a street legal knobby tire? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have never ridden in the Pine barrens but I have used a 50/50 tire in some pretty deep sand.  With a lil work they will get you through but I just went to a dunlop D606 DOT tire that is 10%on and 90%off it is super smooth on the street and great in the soft sand and mud I ride in here in Ohio.

Jack,
I rode this event last year, and it was one of the most enjoyable of everything I rode last year.
Is there an ENTRY form available for this year??
I don't want to be left out...
